Currently, he serves as a board counselor for the Bosnian Premier League club Velež Mostar, where his journey in football began.

Kodro's professional playing career commenced at Velež Mostar in nineteen eighty-five, where he made his first team debut. Over the span of sixteen years, he showcased his talents primarily in Spain, representing clubs such as Real Sociedad, Barcelona, Tenerife, and Alavés. Throughout his time in La Liga, he made two hundred sixty-three appearances and scored one hundred five goals, demonstrating his exceptional technical skills and aerial prowess.

After concluding his playing career at Maccabi Tel Aviv in two thousand one, Kodro transitioned into management. His managerial journey included a brief tenure as the head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in two thousand eight, followed by roles as a youth coach and manager at Real Sociedad and Real Sociedad B. He also managed Sarajevo in the Bosnian Premier League and had stints with Swiss clubs Servette and Stade Lausanne Ouchy.

In August twenty twenty-three, Kodro returned to lead the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team once more, although his time in this position was cut short when he was dismissed by the end of September.
