Menas of Egypt

Menas of Egypt, born in the year two hundred eighty-five, is revered as both a hermit and a soldier. His life reflects a profound commitment to faith and service, embodying the virtues of dedication and resilience. Menas is celebrated for his spiritual journey, which led him to embrace a life of solitude and reflection, away from the distractions of the world.

His legacy is particularly honored in the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria, where his feast day is observed annually on the fifteenth of Hathor, corresponding to November twenty-four on the Gregorian calendar. This day serves as a reminder of his contributions to the faith and the impact he had on those around him.

In addition to the Coptic observance, Menas is also commemorated in Eastern Orthodox churches that adhere to the Julian calendar, celebrating his feast on the same date of November twenty-four. However, in the Eastern Orthodox churches that follow the Revised Julian calendar, as well as in the Catholic Church, his feast is celebrated on November eleventh, showcasing the widespread reverence for his life and teachings.
