Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Mercedes Aráoz

Mercedes Aráoz, born on August fifth, nineteen sixty-one, is a distinguished Peruvian economist, professor, and politician. Her political journey began with her appointment as Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism from two thousand six to July two thousand nine, followed by brief tenures as Minister of Production and Minister of Economy and Finance during Alan García's second presidency.

In the two thousand sixteen Peruvian general election, Aráoz was elected as Second Vice President alongside Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and Martín Vizcarra under the Peruvians for Change ticket. This election was marked by a competitive run-off against Keiko Fujimori's Popular Force ticket. Concurrently, she secured a seat in Congress for the term spanning two thousand sixteen to two thousand twenty-one.

During Kuczynski's administration, she was appointed Prime Minister of Peru, serving from September seventeenth, two thousand seventeen, until April second, two thousand eighteen. Following Kuczynski's resignation due to a corruption scandal, Martín Vizcarra assumed the presidency, and Aráoz became the sole Vice President in his administration.

On September thirtieth, two thousand nineteen, a political dispute led to the dissolution of Congress by President Vizcarra, resulting in Aráoz being named Acting President. However, the suspension of Vizcarra was not widely recognized, prompting her to decline the presidency on October first, two thousand nineteen. Ultimately, her resignation was accepted by Congress on May seventh, two thousand twenty, leaving both Vice Presidencies unoccupied.
