Metta Sandiford-Artest

Metta Sandiford-Artest, born Ronald William Artest Jr. on November 13, 1979, is a distinguished American former professional basketball player, rapper, actor, and basketball coach. With a career spanning seventeen seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), he is renowned for his exceptional defensive skills, often regarded as one of the most formidable perimeter defenders in the league's history.

Artest's basketball journey began at St. John's University, where he played for the Red Storm before being drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the first round of the 1999 NBA draft. His career took a significant turn in 2001 when he signed with the Indiana Pacers, earning the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award and achieving NBA All-Star status in two thousand four.

However, his career was not without controversy. In two thousand four, he was involved in a notorious brawl between the Pacers and the Detroit Pistons, resulting in a suspension that marked the longest for on-court misconduct in NBA history. Following this incident, he was traded to the Sacramento Kings and later played for the Houston Rockets during the two thousand eight to two thousand nine season.
