Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Michael Aschbacher

Michael Aschbacher, born on April eighth, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished American mathematician renowned for his significant contributions to the field of finite groups. His expertise and dedication positioned him as a pivotal figure in the classification of finite simple groups during the transformative decades of the nineteen seventies and eighties.

Despite the groundbreaking work achieved in this area, it was later discovered that the classification was incomplete, particularly concerning quasithin groups. This oversight was addressed by Aschbacher and his colleague Stephen D. Smith in two comprehensive volumes published in two thousand four, which together span approximately one thousand three hundred pages.

Currently, Aschbacher holds the esteemed title of Shaler Arthur Hanisch Professor of Mathematics at the California Institute of Technology, where he continues to inspire and educate the next generation of mathematicians.
