Michael Czerny

Michael Czerny, born on July eighteenth, nineteen forty-six, is a distinguished Czech-born Canadian Catholic prelate. He has dedicated his life to the service of the Church and the promotion of social justice across various regions, including Canada, Latin America, Africa, and Rome.

Since two thousand twenty-two, Czerny has held the esteemed position of prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development. Prior to this role, he served as the under secretary of the dicastery's Migrants and Refugees Section from two thousand seventeen to two thousand twenty-two, where he focused on addressing the needs of vulnerable populations.

In recognition of his significant contributions to the Church and society, Pope Francis elevated him to the rank of cardinal in two thousand nineteen. As a member of the Jesuits, Czerny continues to advocate for social justice and the dignity of all individuals.
