Michael Elgin, born on December thirteenth, nineteen eighty-six, is a prominent Canadian professional wrestler and promoter, widely recognized for his dynamic performances in the wrestling ring. He has made significant contributions to various wrestling promotions, most notably New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), where he held the prestigious IWGP Intercontinental Championship, the NEVER Openweight Championship, and the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championship.
Elgin's wrestling journey began in late two thousand four when he adopted the ring name Michael Elgin. By the age of eighteen, he was already a regular competitor on the independent circuit, showcasing his talent in promotions such as Combat Zone Wrestling, World League Wrestling, and Alpha-1 Wrestling. His early career saw him winning the IWA Mid-South Strong Style Championship in two thousand eight, marking a significant milestone in his ascent within the wrestling world.
In two thousand seven, Elgin made his debut in Ring of Honor (ROH), and by two thousand ten, he became a key member of the House of Truth faction. His dedication and skill led him to sign a contract with ROH in two thousand eleven, where he achieved notable success, including winning the Survival of the Fittest tournament in two thousand eleven and again in two thousand fifteen, making him the first wrestler to accomplish this feat twice.
Elgin's international career flourished when he debuted for NJPW in two thousand fifteen, eventually signing a contract with the promotion the following year. After three impactful years, he departed NJPW in March two thousand nineteen and joined Impact Wrestling shortly thereafter. However, his time with Impact came to an end in June two thousand twenty following allegations made during the Speaking Out movement, which brought significant attention to issues within the wrestling industry.
