Michael Flynn

Michael Flynn, born on December 24, 1958, is a retired United States Army lieutenant general whose career has spanned military service, politics, and business. He served as the 24th U.S. National Security Advisor for a brief period during the first Trump administration, resigning after just twenty-two days due to controversies surrounding his communications with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

Flynn's military tenure was marked by significant contributions to U.S. counterterrorism strategies, particularly during the Afghanistan and Iraq Wars. He held various senior intelligence roles, culminating in his appointment as the 18th director of the Defense Intelligence Agency in July 2012, a position he held until his retirement in August 2014. Notably, he was the first American official to lecture at the Moscow headquarters of the Russian military intelligence directorate GRU.

After leaving the military, Flynn founded Flynn Intel Group in October 2014, providing intelligence services to businesses and governments, including work in Turkey. His controversial ties to Russia deepened when he was paid forty-five thousand dollars to speak at a celebration for RT, a state-controlled Russian television network, where he shared a table with President Vladimir Putin.

In February 2016, Flynn became a national security advisor for Trump's presidential campaign and was sworn in on January 22, 2017. However, he resigned shortly after due to misleading statements regarding his communications with Kislyak. His legal troubles escalated when he pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI in December 2017, later attempting to withdraw his plea amid claims of government vindictiveness.

In a dramatic turn of events, Flynn received a presidential pardon from Trump on November 25, 2020, after a lengthy legal battle. He has since emerged as a prominent figure in the Christian nationalist movement, advocating for what he describes as a spiritual and political war.
