Michael Grätzel

Michael Grätzel, born on May eleventh, nineteen forty-four, is a distinguished chemist and university educator currently serving as a professor at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. He leads the Laboratory of Photonics and Interfaces, where his groundbreaking research focuses on energy and electron transfer reactions in mesoscopic materials, paving the way for innovative optoelectronic applications.

In nineteen eighty-eight, Grätzel co-invented the Grätzel cell alongside Brian O'Regan, a significant advancement in solar energy technology. His contributions to the field have earned him the title of the 'father of artificial photosynthesis,' highlighting his pivotal role in developing sustainable energy solutions.
