Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Michael Sam

Michael Alan Sam Jr., born on January 7, 1990, is a notable figure in American football, recognized not only for his athletic prowess but also for his groundbreaking role in sports history. As a former professional football defensive lineman, he played college football for the Missouri Tigers, where he distinguished himself as a unanimous All-American and the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Defensive Player of the Year during his senior year.

In 2014, Sam made headlines when he was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round of the NFL draft, becoming the first openly gay player to be drafted into the league. His journey, however, was not without challenges; he was released by the Rams during the final preseason roster cuts and later spent time on the practice squad of the Dallas Cowboys before being waived.

After his time in the NFL, Sam signed with the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) before the 2015 season. He made history again by becoming the first openly gay player to participate in a CFL regular-season game. Following his playing career, he transitioned into coaching and currently serves as a coach for the Panthers Wrocław in the European League of Football (ELF).
