Michel Devoret

Michel Devoret, born on March fifth, nineteen fifty-three, is a distinguished French-American physicist renowned for his contributions to the field of quantum computing. Currently, he holds the position of Professor of Physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara, while also serving as Professor Emeritus of Applied Physics at Yale University.

In addition to his academic roles, Devoret is the Chief Scientist for Quantum Hardware at Google Quantum AI. His innovative work has significantly advanced the development of superconducting quantum computing architectures, including the quantronium, transmon, and fluxonium, which are pivotal in the evolution of quantum technologies.

Devoret's groundbreaking research has not gone unnoticed; he is set to share the Nobel Prize in Physics in twenty twenty-five with esteemed colleagues John Clarke and John M. Martinis.
