Michel Kafando, born on August eighteenth, nineteen forty-two, is a prominent Burkinabé diplomat and politician. His career has been marked by significant roles, including serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs from nineteen eighty-two to nineteen eighty-three and later as the Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the United Nations from nineteen ninety-eight to two thousand eleven.
In the wake of the 2014 Burkinabé uprising, which led to the resignation of President Blaise Compaoré, Kafando was appointed as the Interim President by the interim military administration. His leadership during this tumultuous period was crucial as he navigated the country towards stability and prepared for upcoming elections.
However, Kafando's presidency faced challenges, including a coup attempt in September two thousand fifteen by the Regiment of Presidential Security. Remarkably, he managed to restore order and regain power within a week, demonstrating resilience and commitment to his role. Following the successful elections, he was succeeded by Roch Marc Christian Kaboré in December two thousand fifteen.
