Michèle Flournoy

Michèle Flournoy, born on December fourteenth, nineteen sixty, is a prominent American defense policy advisor with a distinguished career in public service. She served as the deputy assistant secretary of defense for strategy during the administration of President Bill Clinton and later held the position of under secretary of defense for policy under President Barack Obama.

As the highest-ranking woman in the history of the Department of Defense, Flournoy played a pivotal role in shaping U.S. military strategy. In her capacity as under secretary, she was instrumental in developing the Obama administration's counter-insurgency policy in Afghanistan and was a key advocate for military intervention in Libya.

In two thousand seven, she co-founded the Center for a New American Security, an influential think tank focused on national security issues. Currently, she serves as a co-founder and managing partner of WestExec Advisors, where she continues to impact defense policy and strategy.
