Michelle Tisseyre

Michelle Tisseyre, born on March thirteenth, nineteen eighteen, was a trailblazing Canadian television presenter and journalist. Her career began in nineteen forty-one when she joined Radio-Canada, where she made significant contributions to broadcasting journalism on the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) radio and television until nineteen forty-seven. Notably, she became the first woman to present a fifteen-minute newsletter broadcast in CBC's French services, marking a pivotal moment in Canadian media history.

After a brief period of freelancing, Tisseyre returned to Radio-Canada in nineteen fifty, eventually serving as its director from nineteen fifty-three to nineteen sixty. During her tenure, she played a crucial role in the launch of the first TV show, TV-Montreal, which further solidified her influence in the industry.

Throughout her illustrious career, Tisseyre received numerous accolades, including the Governor General’s Literary Award for her translation of Morley Callaghan's Winter. Her contributions to literature and broadcasting earned her the prestigious title of Officer of the Order of Canada, recognizing her impact on Canadian publications.

Even in her later years, Tisseyre continued to pursue her passion for education. At the age of eighty, she returned to college and graduated in two thousand six with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from McGill University. Michelle Tisseyre lived a remarkable life, passing away at the age of ninety-six, leaving behind a legacy of pioneering achievements in journalism and broadcasting.
