Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Midhat Pasha

Midhat Pasha, born on October eighteenth, eighteen twenty-two in Istanbul, was a prominent Ottoman politician and reformist. His education at a private medrese laid the foundation for a career that would see him become a significant figure in the political landscape of the Ottoman Empire. Midhat's vision for reform was driven by a recognition of the empire's dire circumstances, and he emerged as a leading democrat during a time of great change.

In July eighteen seventy-two, Midhat was appointed grand vizier by Sultan Abdulaziz, although his tenure was short-lived, ending in August of the same year. His political journey took a pivotal turn during the First Constitutional Era in eighteen seventy-six when he co-founded the Ottoman Parliament, marking a significant step towards modernization and democratic governance in the empire.

Despite his contributions, Midhat's relationship with Sultan Abdul Hamid II was fraught with tension. Their clashes culminated in eighteen eighty-one when Midhat was convicted of the alleged murder of Sultan Abdulaziz, a charge that many viewed as politically motivated. Tragically, Midhat's life was cut short in eighteen eighty-three when he was killed in the prison of al-Ta'if, reportedly on the orders of the Sultan, sealing his fate as a martyr for reform.
