Migos, an influential American hip hop group, emerged from Lawrenceville, Georgia, in 2008, consisting of rapper Quavo, his nephew Takeoff, and their friend Offset. Quavo hails from Athens, Georgia, while Offset and Takeoff were raised in Lawrenceville. Under the management of Coach K, known for his work with Gucci Mane and Jeezy, Migos quickly made a name for themselves in the music industry.
Their breakthrough came with the 2013 single 'Versace,' which was a product of their third mixtape, Y.R.N. (Young Rich Niggas). The track gained significant traction after being remixed by Canadian rapper Drake, marking their entry into the Billboard Hot 100. Following this success, they released hits like 'Fight Night' and 'Look at My Dab' in the subsequent years.
Migos solidified their status in the hip hop scene with their debut studio album, 'Yung Rich Nation,' released in 2015, which received positive reviews and peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200. Their second album, 'Culture,' released in 2017, debuted at the top of the charts, propelled by the massive success of 'Bad and Boujee.' The trio's commercial peak came with 'Culture II' in 2018, which sold approximately 200,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
In addition to their musical achievements, Migos made a cultural impact by appearing as fictionalized versions of themselves in the first season of Donald Glover's acclaimed series, 'Atlanta.' Tragically, on November 1, 2022, Takeoff was fatally shot outside a bowling alley in Houston, leading to the disbandment of the group in the following year.
