Miguel Pro

Miguel Pro, born on January thirteenth, nineteen ninety-one, was a devoted Mexican Jesuit priest whose life was marked by profound faith and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. His journey took a tragic turn during the tumultuous period of the Cristero War, a conflict that arose from the Mexican government's oppressive policies against the Catholic Church.

Pro was wrongfully accused of serious crimes, including bombing and attempting to assassinate former President Álvaro Obregón. His arrest, devoid of any trial or substantial evidence, highlighted the intense persecution faced by religious figures during this era. Despite the grave charges against him, Pro remained steadfast in his innocence and faith.

On November twenty-third, nineteen twenty-seven, Miguel Pro was executed under the presidency of Plutarco Elías Calles, becoming a symbol of martyrdom for many. His legacy as a man of deep religious conviction and integrity was recognized when he was beatified in Rome on September twenty-fifth, nineteen eighty-eight, by Pope John Paul II, who honored him as a martyr killed in odium fidei, or in hatred of the faith.
