Miguel Trovoada

Miguel Trovoada, born on December twenty-seventh, nineteen thirty-six, is a prominent São Toméan diplomat and politician. He made history as the first Prime Minister of São Tomé and Príncipe, serving from nineteen seventy-five to nineteen seventy-nine. His leadership during this formative period helped shape the nation following its independence.

Trovoada's political journey continued as he became the second President of São Tomé and Príncipe, holding office from nineteen ninety-one to two thousand one. His tenure was marked by efforts to stabilize and develop the country, navigating the complexities of post-colonial governance.

In addition to his national roles, Trovoada has contributed to international diplomacy. On July sixteenth, two thousand fourteen, he was appointed as the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS). This position underscores his commitment to peace and stability in the region.

Before his UN appointment, he served as the executive secretary of the Gulf of Guinea Commission, further demonstrating his dedication to regional cooperation and development.
