Mike Babcock

Michael Babcock Jr., born on April 29, 1963, is a distinguished Canadian figure in the world of ice hockey, known for his dual roles as a player and a coach. His coaching career in the National Hockey League (NHL) spanned eighteen seasons, beginning with the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, where he made a significant impact by leading the team to the Stanley Cup Final in 2003.

In 2005, Babcock took the helm of the Detroit Red Wings, a tenure marked by remarkable success. Under his leadership, the Red Wings clinched the Stanley Cup in 2008 and consistently reached the playoffs, setting a franchise record for the most wins in team history. His coaching prowess was further demonstrated during his time with the Toronto Maple Leafs from 2015 until his dismissal in 2019, where his teams missed the postseason only four times throughout his extensive coaching career.

Babcock's influence extended beyond the NHL, as he gained international acclaim by becoming the only coach to enter the prestigious Triple Gold Club. His accolades include winning the Stanley Cup, IIHF World Championships, and coaching Olympic gold medal-winning teams. He led Team Canada to gold at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in 2004 and achieved Olympic success in both the 2010 and 2014 Winter Games.
