Mike Braun

Mike Braun, born on March twenty-four, nineteen fifty-four, in Jasper, Indiana, is a prominent American businessman and politician. He has made significant strides in his political career, currently serving as the fifty-second governor of Indiana since two thousand twenty-five. A member of the Republican Party, Braun previously held the position of United States senator from Indiana from two thousand nineteen to two thousand twenty-five and served as the representative for the sixty-third district in the Indiana House of Representatives from two thousand fourteen to two thousand seventeen.

After completing his education at Wabash College with a degree in economics, Braun furthered his studies by earning an MBA from Harvard Business School. His political journey began in the Indiana House of Representatives, where he served for three years before being elected to the United States Senate in two thousand eighteen, defeating the Democratic incumbent Joe Donnelly. In two thousand twenty-four, he achieved a significant victory in the gubernatorial race, defeating Democratic nominee Jennifer McCormick and Libertarian nominee Donald Rainwater by a margin of thirteen point three percent, marking the highest margin in an open seat election for governor since nineteen eighty.

Throughout his political career, Braun has taken firm stances on various issues. He opposes the Affordable Care Act, same-sex marriage, abortion, and a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Notably, he has urged the Republican Party to take climate change more seriously. While he supported President Donald Trump's trade and tariff policies, he was previously an advocate for free trade. Additionally, Braun voted to acquit Trump during the impeachment trial related to the Trump-Ukraine scandal.
