Mike Kennedy, born on February second, nineteen sixty-nine, is a prominent American politician, attorney, and physician. He has been serving as the U.S. representative for Utah’s third congressional district since two thousand twenty-five. Prior to this role, Kennedy made significant contributions as a Republican member of the Utah Senate from two thousand twenty-one to two thousand twenty-five and as a member of the Utah House of Representatives from two thousand thirteen to two thousand nineteen.
In two thousand eighteen, Kennedy sought to elevate his political career by running in the U.S. Senate election in Utah. He garnered the most votes at the Utah State Republican Convention; however, he faced a challenging primary against former Massachusetts Governor and two thousand twelve Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, ultimately resulting in his defeat.
Kennedy's political journey took a notable turn in June of two thousand twenty-four when he secured the Republican nomination for Utah's third congressional district. Despite being significantly outspent—five to one and two to one by his top competitors—he triumphed with thirty-nine percent of the vote in a competitive field of five candidates. His determination was evident as he previously won the Utah Republican Party nominating convention after an intense six rounds of voting.
