Mike Moya

Mike Moya is a distinguished Canadian rock musician, renowned for his role as a founding member of the influential post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor. His musical journey began with the band, where he contributed significantly to their unique sound and artistic vision.

In 1998, Moya made the decision to leave Godspeed You! Black Emperor to focus on his other musical endeavors, including bands such as Molasses, Set Fire to Flames, and HṚṢṬA. His passion for music led him to explore various styles and collaborations, enriching his artistic repertoire.

After a significant hiatus, Moya rejoined Godspeed You! Black Emperor during their reunion in 2010, marking a triumphant return to the band that first brought him acclaim. His contributions continue to resonate within the post-rock genre.

In addition to his work with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Moya has also been part of the live band for labelmate Elizabeth Anka Vajagic. He currently resides between Berlin and Montreal, sharing his life with his partner Maria Hinze and their family, balancing his musical career with personal fulfillment.
