Mike Stern

Mike Stern, born on January 10, 1953, is a distinguished American jazz guitarist renowned for his innovative contributions to the genre. His musical journey began with the iconic band Blood, Sweat & Tears, where he honed his skills before collaborating with legendary drummer Billy Cobham. Stern's career took a significant turn when he joined the ranks of trumpeter Miles Davis, performing with him from 1981 to 1983 and again in 1985.

Following his time with Davis, Stern embarked on a successful solo career, releasing over twenty albums that showcase his unique style and virtuosity. His talent has not gone unnoticed; in 1993, he was honored as the Best Jazz Guitarist by Guitar Player magazine, a testament to his influence and skill in the jazz community.

In June 2007, at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, Stern received the prestigious Miles Davis Award, recognizing his significant contributions to the renewal of jazz. His legacy continued to grow, and in 2009, he was featured on Down Beat's list of the seventy-five best jazz guitarists of all time. Further solidifying his status, he was awarded Guitar Player magazine's Certified Legend Award on January 21, 2012.
