Mikhail Skobelev

Mikhail Skobelev, born on September seventeenth, eighteen forty-three, was a distinguished Russian general renowned for his remarkable military exploits in Central Asia and his valor during the Russo-Turkish War of eighteen seventy-seven to eighteen seventy-eight.

Adorned in a striking white uniform and often seen on a white horse, Skobelev earned the affectionate title of the 'White General' among his troops. His presence on the battlefield was commanding, and he was revered for his bravery and leadership. Conversely, his Turkmen adversaries referred to him as goz ganly, translating to 'Bloody Eyes', a testament to his fierce reputation.

His strategic prowess did not go unnoticed; British field marshal Bernard Montgomery regarded Skobelev as the world's 'ablest single commander' from eighteen seventy to nineteen fourteen. Montgomery praised his 'skilful and inspiring' leadership, a sentiment echoed by fellow military figures such as Francis Vinton Greene, who also held Skobelev in high esteem.
