Mikheil Javakhishvili

Mikheil Javakhishvili, born on November eighth, eighteen eighty, was a prominent Georgian and Soviet novelist, celebrated as one of the foremost writers of the twentieth century in Georgia. His literary journey began with the publication of his first story in nineteen oh three, marking the start of a career that would later be interrupted by a significant hiatus.

After a long pause, Javakhishvili returned to writing in the early nineteen twenties, a period marked by the oppressive atmosphere of Soviet ideological pressure. His resistance to conforming to these constraints ultimately led to tragic consequences; he was executed during the Great Purge, and his works were banned for nearly two decades.
