Milena Rudnytska, born on July fifteenth, eighteen ninety-two, was a prominent Ukrainian journalist, women's rights activist, politician, and writer. She emerged as one of the most influential figures in the interwar period of the Galician women's movement, using her voice to advocate for women's rights and social justice.
Throughout her career, Rudnytska contributed articles to various periodicals, shedding light on critical issues affecting her community. As a member of the Polish Sejm from nineteen twenty-eight to nineteen thirty-five, she courageously brought attention to the suppression faced by minority Ukrainians under the Polish regime, as well as the Soviet regime's denial of the devastating famine during the Holodomor.
With the onset of Soviet and Nazi occupations in Ukraine, Rudnytska was forced to flee her homeland, becoming an exile for the remainder of her life. Despite the challenges she faced, she continued to publish books and articles, sharing her insights and experiences as she traveled across Europe and the United States.
