Miqdad ibn Aswad

Miqdad ibn Aswad, known simply as Miqdad, was a prominent companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, recognized for his early conversion to Islam. Born in Yemen around the year five hundred ninety, Miqdad's journey began as a fugitive in his hometown, leading him to seek refuge in Mecca. There, he served al-Aswad al-Kindi, who eventually adopted him as a son due to Miqdad's loyalty and dedication.

As one of the first seven individuals to publicly embrace Islam, Miqdad became a member of the Muhajirun, the group of Muslims who migrated to Medina to escape persecution from the Meccan polytheists. In Medina, he earned the distinction of being the first Muslim horseman and actively participated in all military campaigns led by Muhammad, showcasing his skills as an excellent archer.

Following the death of Muhammad, Miqdad remained a steadfast ally of Ali, the Prophet's cousin, and played a significant role during the Rashidun Caliphate. His contributions were particularly notable during the Muslim conquests of the Levant and Egypt. In Shia Islam, he is revered as a member of Shurṭat al-Khamīs, a group of six thousand fighters who pledged unwavering loyalty to Ali.

Miqdad's physical appearance was described as dark and hairy, with a dyed beard, wide eyes, and a hooked nose. He was notably large in stature, with a stomach so prominent that it drew comparisons to a golden chest. In Medina, he chose to abandon the name
