Missy Elliott

Melissa Arnette "Missy" Elliott, born on July 1, 1971, is a multifaceted American artist renowned for her contributions as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer. She began her musical journey in the 1990s as a member of the R&B girl group Sista, which was part of the influential collective Swing Mob, led by DeVante Swing of Jodeci. Although their debut album, 4 All the Sistas Around da World, received critical acclaim, it did not achieve commercial success. This early experience paved the way for her collaboration with Timbaland, leading to successful songwriting and production for notable acts like Aaliyah and 702.

By 1996, Elliott had re-emerged as a solo artist, releasing her debut album, Supa Dupa Fly, in 1997. The album peaked at number three on the US Billboard 200 and featured the hit single "Sock It 2 Me".
