As a freshman, he played a pivotal role in guiding his team to a remarkable twenty-seven wins and eight losses, while also sharing in an SEC regular-season championship.

In two thousand three, Williams entered the NBA draft and was selected as the forty-seventh overall pick by the Utah Jazz. Over the course of thirteen seasons, he played for several teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Clippers, Portland Trail Blazers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Charlotte Hornets, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. His career highlights include being named an NBA All-Star in two thousand nine and winning an NBA championship with the Cavaliers in the two thousand sixteen Finals.

After retiring as a player in two thousand seventeen, Williams transitioned into coaching.
