Moby

Richard Melville Hall, known to the world as Moby, was born on September 11, 1965. An influential figure in the music industry, Moby has made his mark as a singer, songwriter, and animal rights activist. With over twenty million records sold globally, he is recognized as one of the pivotal dance music artists of the early 1990s, credited with bringing electronic music into the mainstream in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Beginning his musical journey at the tender age of nine, Moby learned to play guitar and piano, eventually performing in various underground punk rock bands throughout the 1980s. His transition to electronic dance music began in 1989 when he moved to New York City, where he quickly became a prominent DJ, producer, and remixer. His breakthrough single, 'Go,' released in 1991, achieved significant success in Europe, marking the start of a series of top ten hits on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.

His fifth album, 'Play,' released in 1999, became a global sensation, selling twelve million copies and solidifying his status in the music world. Following this success, Moby explored various musical styles, releasing albums such as '18,' 'Hotel,' and 'Last Night.' He later returned to his punk roots with The Void Pacific Choir, producing albums like 'These Systems Are Failing' and 'More Fast Songs About the Apocalypse.' In 2021, he released 'Reprise,' an orchestral album that revisited his extensive catalog, followed by 'Resound NYC' in 2023.

Beyond music, Moby is a passionate advocate for veganism and animal rights. In 2020, he founded Little Walnut Productions to promote creative activism in film, television, and theater. He is also an accomplished author, having published four books, including two memoirs, 'Porcelain' and 'Then It Fell Apart.' Moby continues to innovate and inspire, both through his music and his commitment to humanitarian causes.
