Mohamed Atta, born on September first, nineteen sixty-eight, was an Egyptian engineer and architect who became infamously known as the ringleader of the September eleventh attacks. He was a civil engineer by profession, having graduated from Cairo University in nineteen ninety and later pursuing postgraduate studies at the Hamburg University of Technology in Germany.

During his time in Hamburg, Atta became involved with the al-Quds Mosque, where he met key figures such as Marwan al-Shehhi, Ramzi bin al-Shibh, and Ziad Jarrah, forming what would be known as the Hamburg cell. His ideological beliefs leaned towards pan-Islamism, and he was recruited by Osama bin Laden and Khalid Sheikh Mohammed for a coordinated operation targeting the United States.

In the lead-up to the attacks, Atta returned to Hamburg in February two thousand and began flight training in the United States, obtaining his commercial pilot's license by December. He played a crucial role in the planning and execution of the attacks, including the arrival of the muscle hijackers who would assist in subduing passengers and crew.

On the morning of September eleventh, two thousand one, Atta hijacked American Airlines Flight eleven, which he piloted into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of more than one thousand six hundred individuals, marking it as the deadliest air crash and terrorist attack in history.
