Mohammed al-Bashir, born in 1983, is a prominent Syrian engineer and politician who has made significant contributions to the country's governance during a tumultuous period. Currently serving as the minister of energy in the Syrian transitional government since March 2025, al-Bashir has played a crucial role in shaping the energy policies of a nation in transition.
Before his current position, al-Bashir held the esteemed title of the last prime minister of Syria, where he led the caretaker government formed after the fall of the Assad regime. His leadership marked a pivotal moment in Syrian history, succeeding Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali and guiding the nation through its reconstruction efforts.
In addition to his role as prime minister, al-Bashir was also the fifth and final prime minister of the Syrian Salvation Government, the civilian administration of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham. His tenure began on January thirteenth, two thousand twenty-four, and he was appointed by the Syrian General Command to lead the country during a critical juncture.
