Monique Kavelaars, born on March twentieth, nineteen seventy-one, is a distinguished Canadian fencer and former beauty pageant contestant. She gained recognition as a member of Team Canada's women's épée team, which achieved a commendable fourth place at the 2004 Summer Olympics held in Athens, Greece. Residing in Toronto, Ontario, Monique trains at the Toronto Fencing Club, where her dedication to the sport continues to flourish.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Monique was crowned Miss Teen Canada in nineteen eighty-nine. She comes from a family of accomplished women; her twin sister, Ingrid Kavelaars, was the runner-up in the same pageant in nineteen eighty-seven and has made a name for herself as an actress. Their older sister, Annette Kavelaars, won the Miss London Ontario pageant in nineteen eighty-four and competed in the Miss Canada pageant. The Kavelaars family, which includes five siblings—four daughters and one son—grew up in Appin, Ontario, under the guidance of their father, John, a farmer, and their mother, Anne, a homemaker.

Monique and Ingrid share a rich history in fencing, which was highlighted when Ingrid taught Luke Perry how to fence in an episode of the TV show Jeremiah, where she was a main character from two thousand two to two thousand four. Monique made a guest appearance in the series, portraying the twin sister of Ingrid's character in the episode titled 'Moon in Gemini.' The twins also showcased their talents in the film Senior Trip, released in nineteen ninety-five, where they played the roles of twin sisters Mandy and Candy.

In her personal life, Monique has been married to Andreas Karlsson since June thirtieth, two thousand four. The couple splits their time between Toronto and Sweden. Monique is an alumna of Regina Mundi Catholic College in London, Ontario, and York University in Toronto, where she furthered her education while pursuing her athletic and artistic passions.
