Moridja Kitenge Banza

Moridja Kitenge Banza, a distinguished visual artist, was born in Kinshasa, Congo in 1980. Currently residing in Montreal, Quebec, he has made a significant impact in the art world through his diverse use of media, which includes drawing, painting, photography, and installation.

His artistic journey began at the Académie des beaux-arts de Kinshasa, followed by further studies at l’École supérieure des beaux-arts de Nantes Métropole. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for his innovative approach to visual storytelling.

In 2010, Moridja's talent was recognized when he was awarded the first prize at the Biennale of Contemporary African Art, DAK’ART in Sénégal. More recently, he was honored as one of the winners of the 2020 Sobey Art Award, further solidifying his reputation in the contemporary art scene.

Moridja Kitenge Banza's work is represented by Hugues Charbonneau Art Gallery in Montréal, where his unique vision continues to inspire and engage audiences.
