Moses Gunn, born on October second, nineteen twenty-nine, was a distinguished American actor celebrated for his remarkable contributions to stage and screen. An Obie Award-winning performer, he was a proud alumnus of the Negro Ensemble Company, which played a pivotal role in his artistic development.

Gunn made his off-Broadway debut in nineteen sixty-two with Jean Genet's provocative play, The Blacks. His Broadway debut followed shortly after in A Hand Is on the Gate, an evening dedicated to African-American poetry. His talent was further recognized when he received a nomination for the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play in nineteen seventy-six for his compelling performance in The Poison Tree. Notably, he portrayed the iconic role of Othello on Broadway in nineteen seventy.

In addition to his stage accomplishments, Gunn left an indelible mark on film and television. He is perhaps best remembered for his roles as Clotho in WUSA, Bumpy Jonas in Shaft, and Joe Kagan on the beloved series Little House on the Prairie, where he captivated audiences from nineteen seventy-seven to nineteen eighty-one.
