Mulk Raj Anand

Mulk Raj Anand, born on December twelfth, nineteen oh five, was a prominent Indian writer who made significant contributions to English literature. Renowned for his vivid portrayal of the lives of the impoverished in traditional Indian society, Anand emerged as a pioneering figure in Indo-Anglian fiction. Alongside contemporaries such as R. K. Narayan and Raja Rao, he was among the first India-based authors to achieve international acclaim.

His literary works, including celebrated novels and short stories, have earned a revered status within modern Indian English literature. Anand's narratives are distinguished by their profound insights into the struggles of the oppressed, as well as their critical examination of themes such as poverty, exploitation, and misfortune.

One of his most notable works, the protest novel 'Untouchable,' published in nineteen thirty-five, marked a significant milestone in his career. This was followed by other impactful writings, including 'Coolie' in nineteen thirty-six and 'Two Leaves and a Bud' in nineteen thirty-seven, which further explored the plight of the Indian poor.
