Multatuli

Eduard Douwes Dekker, born on the second of March in the year eighteen hundred and twenty, is widely recognized by his pen name, Multatuli, which translates from Latin to mean 'I have suffered much.' This moniker reflects the profound experiences that shaped his literary voice and social critique.

As a writer, Multatuli is best known for his groundbreaking satirical novel, Max Havelaar, published in eighteen sixty.
