Musaylima

Musaylima, born in the year six hundred, emerged from the Banu Hanifa tribe, located in what is now Diriyah, near Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He is best known for his audacious claim to prophethood during a tumultuous period in seventh-century Arabia, positioning himself as a significant adversary to the nascent Islamic faith.

As a prominent figure during the Ridda wars, Musaylima led forces opposing Islam, earning him a notorious reputation among Muslims. His actions and declarations have led to his classification as a false prophet, a title that resonates through history.

Musaylima is often referred to as Musaylima al-Kadhāb, which translates to 'Musaylima the Arch-Liar.' This moniker reflects the disdain with which he is viewed in Islamic tradition. His literary contributions, particularly in the form of saj', a style of rhymed prose prevalent in pre-Islamic culture, further illustrate his complex legacy.
