Myles Richard Bass, known professionally as Myles Kennedy, was born on November 27, 1969, in Boston, Massachusetts. Raised in Northern Idaho and Spokane, Washington, he developed a passion for music early on, leading him to study music theory at Spokane Falls Community College. His career began in 1990 as the lead guitarist for the instrumental jazz ensemble Cosmic Dust, which released one studio album.
Following Cosmic Dust, Kennedy joined Citizen Swing, a band that produced two studio albums before disbanding in 1996. He then formed The Mayfield Four with fellow Citizen Swing member Craig Johnson, where he showcased his talents as lead vocalist and guitarist, releasing two studio albums before the band dissolved in 2002. After turning down an opportunity to audition for Velvet Revolver, he was invited by Mark Tremonti to join Alter Bridge in late 2003, officially becoming a member in 2004. Since then, he has contributed to eight studio albums with the band.
In 2008, while on tour with Alter Bridge, Kennedy had the chance to jam with former members of Led Zeppelin, although this collaboration did not evolve into a full band. He later began working with renowned guitarist Slash, contributing to Slash's self-titled solo album in 2010 and touring as his vocalist. In a notable moment in 2012, Kennedy stepped in for Guns N' Roses lead singer Axl Rose during the band's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
With Slash and the Conspirators, Kennedy has recorded four studio albums. Additionally, he has pursued a solo career, releasing three albums: Year of the Tiger in 2018, The Ides of March in 2021, and The Art of Letting Go, set to release in 2024. Throughout his career, Kennedy has established himself as a versatile and talented musician, leaving a significant mark on the rock music scene.
