Nadia Myre, a contemporary visual artist hailing from Quebec, is a proud Algonquin member of the Kitigan Zibi Anishinaabeg First Nation. Currently residing in Montreal, her artistic journey spans over a decade, during which she has developed a multi-disciplinary practice that deeply engages with themes of identity, language, longing, and loss.
Myre's work is characterized by its intricate exploration of Aboriginal identity and nationhood, weaving together complex histories through the lens of memory and handicraft. Canadian Art Magazine aptly describes her creations as exquisite and laborious, often employing traditional beadwork techniques that reflect her cultural heritage.
In addition to her artistic contributions, Myre is a co-founder of daphne, the first Indigenous artist-run centre in Québec. This initiative, established alongside fellow artists Skawennati, Caroline Monnet, and Hannah Claus, underscores her commitment to fostering a vibrant community for Indigenous artists.
