Nana Akufo-Addo

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Nana Akufo-Addo

Nana Akufo-Addo, born on March twenty-nine, nineteen forty-four, is a prominent Ghanaian politician who served as the thirteenth president of Ghana from January two thousand seventeen to January two thousand twenty-five. His political career is marked by significant roles, including serving as Attorney General from two thousand one to two thousand three and as Minister for Foreign Affairs from two thousand three to two thousand seven under President John Kufuor.

Akufo-Addo first sought the presidency in two thousand eight and again in two thousand twelve, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on both occasions. Unfortunately, he faced defeat at the hands of candidates from the National Democratic Congress, John Evans Atta Mills in two thousand eight and John Dramani Mahama in two thousand twelve. Following the latter election, he contested the results in court, but the Supreme Court upheld Mahama's victory.

During the early years of his presidency, Akufo-Addo enjoyed widespread popularity, championing a nationalistic agenda known as 'Ghana Beyond Aid.' However, the latter part of his tenure was overshadowed by severe financial crises, with inflation soaring to forty percent in both two thousand twenty-two and two thousand twenty-three. While his administration attributed these challenges to the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, many critics pointed to mismanagement of public funds as a contributing factor. As his term came to an end, he peacefully transferred power to Mahama of the NDC on January seventh, two thousand twenty-five, following the NPP's loss amid growing unpopularity.
