Nana Jorjadze

Nana Jorjadze, born on August twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-eight, in Tbilisi, is a distinguished Georgian film director, screenwriter, and actress. Her artistic journey began with a solid foundation in the arts, graduating from a local musical school in nineteen sixty-six and later from the architectural department at the Tbilisi State Academy of Fine Arts in nineteen seventy-two. Jorjadze initially worked as an architect from nineteen sixty-eight to nineteen seventy-four before pursuing her passion for performance and storytelling.

In nineteen eighty, she completed her studies at the Tbilisi State Theatre Institute, marking the transition to her career in film. Jorjadze made her acting debut in the film 'Some Interviews on Personal Matters' in nineteen seventy-seven, followed by her directorial debut with 'A Journey to Sopot' in nineteen seventy-nine. Her innovative approach and unique storytelling style quickly garnered attention.

Her breakthrough came in nineteen eighty-seven with 'Robinsonada or My English Grandfather,' which won the prestigious Caméra d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival and received both critical and popular acclaim. In the early nineteen nineties, Jorjadze relocated to France, where she continued to create impactful films, including 'A Chef in Love' in nineteen ninety-six, which made history as the first Georgian film nominated for an Academy Award.

Jorjadze's contributions to cinema have been recognized with numerous accolades, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in the film industry. She shares her life with fellow Georgian writer and director Irakli Kvirikadze, who is known for his creative endeavors.
