Naomy Grand'Pierre

Naomy Grand'Pierre is a trailblazing Haitian-American swimmer, born on April sixteenth, nineteen ninety-seven, in Montreal. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, she has made history as the first woman from Haiti to compete in swimming at the Olympics. Her remarkable journey took her to the 2016 Summer Olympics, where she participated in the women's fifty metre freestyle event, finishing with a time of twenty-seven point forty-six seconds and ranking fifty-sixth.

Grand'Pierre holds dual citizenship in the United States and Haiti, reflecting her deep connection to both cultures. She is a proud graduate of Whitefield Academy in Georgia and earned her degree from the University of Chicago in the class of two thousand nineteen. During her time in college, she actively collaborated with the USA Swimming Diversity and Inclusion Committee, advocating for greater representation in the sport.

Currently, Naomy is dedicated to enhancing the swimming landscape in Haiti. She is working closely with the Haitian National Swim Team and the Haitian Swimming Federation (FHSA) to develop programs that provide more access to swimming for Haitians both in Haiti and in the diaspora.
