Narcisse Pérodeau

Narcisse Pérodeau, born on March twenty-sixth, eighteen fifty-one, in Saint-Ours, Canada East, was a distinguished lawyer, notary, and politician who left a significant mark on Quebec's political landscape. After several years in private practice, he transitioned to academia, teaching law at Laval University from eighteen ninety-eight until nineteen thirty.

In addition to his legal career, Pérodeau was deeply involved in the financial sector, serving as vice-president of La Sauvegarde insurance company and holding positions on the boards of various institutions, including the Mount Royal Assurance Company and the Trans-Canada Insurance Company.

Pérodeau's political journey began when he was appointed to the Legislative Council of Quebec in eighteen ninety-seven, representing Sorel as a member of the Liberal Party. His influence grew, and in nineteen ten, he became a minister without portfolio in Premier Lomer Gouin's cabinet. By nineteen twenty, he was promoted to leader of the government in the Legislative Council, a role he held until nineteen twenty-four.

In January nineteen twenty-four, Pérodeau was appointed the fourteenth Lieutenant Governor of Quebec, a position he held until January nineteen twenty-nine, serving as the King's representative in the province. After his term, he returned to the Legislative Council for Montarville and resumed his role in the Taschereau cabinet. Pérodeau passed away in office at the age of eighty-one and was laid to rest at Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery in Montreal.
