Natacha Atlas

Natacha Atlas, born on March 20, 1964, is an Egyptian-Belgian artist celebrated for her innovative blend of Arabic and Western music. Her unique sound, which she describes as "cha'abi moderne" or modern folk music, showcases a rich tapestry of influences, including Maghrebain, hip hop, drum and bass, and reggae.

Atlas began her musical journey with the world fusion group Transglobal Underground, where she honed her craft and developed her distinctive style. In 1995, she embarked on a solo career, releasing her debut album, Diaspora, which marked a significant turning point in her artistic expression.

Over the years, Natacha has released seven solo albums and collaborated with various artists, further enriching her musical repertoire. One of her notable achievements includes her rendition of "Mon amie la rose," which unexpectedly soared to number sixteen on the French Singles Charts in 1999, solidifying her presence in the music industry.

Her most recent work, the album Strange Days, was released in 2019, continuing her legacy of pushing musical boundaries and captivating audiences worldwide.
