Nate McMillan, born on August third, nineteen sixty-four, is a distinguished American basketball coach and former player. He is currently serving as an assistant coach for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association (NBA). McMillan's career in basketball has been marked by significant achievements both on the court and on the sidelines.
His playing career was exclusively with the Seattle SuperSonics, where he spent twelve years, earning the affectionate nickname 'Mr. Sonic' due to his long-standing association with the team. Following his retirement as a player, McMillan transitioned into coaching, initially taking on the role of assistant coach for the SuperSonics, where he contributed for one and a half years before stepping up as head coach from two thousand to two thousand five.
McMillan's coaching journey continued as he took the helm of the Portland Trail Blazers from two thousand five to two thousand twelve, and later the Indiana Pacers from two thousand sixteen to two thousand twenty.
