Nawaf Salam, born on December fifteenth, nineteen fifty-three, is a distinguished Lebanese diplomat, politician, jurist, and academic. He has made significant contributions to Lebanon's political landscape and international relations, currently serving as the fifty-third prime minister of Lebanon since February eighth, twenty twenty-five.
Salam's career is marked by his tenure on the International Court of Justice (ICJ), where he served for a nine-year term starting in two thousand eighteen. His expertise and leadership were further recognized when he was elected as the twenty-seventh president of the ICJ in twenty twenty-four, making him the second Arab and the first Lebanese to hold this prestigious position.
