Neera Tanden

Neera Tanden, born on September tenth, nineteen seventy, is a prominent American political consultant and lawyer, currently serving as the president and CEO of the Center for American Progress, a leading Democratic think tank. Tanden has been a significant figure in American politics, having held various influential roles since the founding of the Center in two thousand three.

Her career in public service includes a notable tenure as the director of the United States Domestic Policy Council from twenty twenty-three to twenty twenty-five. Prior to this, she was a senior advisor and staff secretary to President Joe Biden from twenty twenty-one to twenty twenty-three, where she played a crucial role in shaping domestic policy.

Tanden's extensive experience in political campaigns spans several decades, contributing to the presidential bids of Michael Dukakis in nineteen eighty-eight, Bill Clinton in nineteen ninety-two, and Barack Obama in two thousand eight. She was also a senior staffer for Hillary Clinton during her successful campaign for a United States Senate seat in New York and continued to support Clinton during her presidential campaigns in two thousand eight and twenty sixteen.

In the Obama administration, Tanden was instrumental in drafting the Affordable Care Act, showcasing her commitment to healthcare reform. Although she was nominated by President-elect Biden to lead the Office of Management and Budget in November twenty twenty, she withdrew her nomination following opposition from Senator Joe Manchin. Nevertheless, she was appointed as a senior advisor in May twenty twenty-one and later became the White House Staff Secretary in October of the same year.
