Nef'i

Nef'i, born 1572 in Hasankale, Erzurum, was a prominent Ottoman poet and satirist known for his sharp wit and eloquent verses. His real name was ʿOmer, but he chose the pen name Nef'i, which became synonymous with his literary prowess.

Throughout his life, Nef'i made significant contributions to Ottoman literature, particularly in the realm of satire. His works often reflected the social and political climate of his time, showcasing his ability to blend humor with critical commentary.

Despite the challenges he faced, including the tumultuous political landscape of the Ottoman Empire, Nef'i's legacy endures. He passed away in 1635 in Istanbul, leaving behind a rich body of work that continues to inspire poets and writers today.
