Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Neil Sheehy

Neil Sheehy, born on February ninth, nineteen sixty, is a distinguished Canadian-born American former professional ice hockey player. Growing up in International Falls, Minnesota, he developed a passion for the sport that would lead him to a successful career in the National Hockey League.

As a defenceman and a proud graduate of Harvard University, Sheehy signed with the Calgary Flames as a free agent in nineteen eighty-three. His formidable defensive skills played a crucial role in guiding the Flames to their first finals appearance in nineteen eighty-six, marking a significant milestone in the franchise's history.

Throughout his career, Sheehy also showcased his talents with the Hartford Whalers and the Washington Capitals. Notably, he is one of only two NHL players to have worn the number zero, a distinction he earned while playing for the Whalers in nineteen eighty-eight. This unique jersey number became a part of NHL history after the league restricted jersey numbers to whole numbers between one and ninety-nine, following a software glitch.

In addition to his own accomplishments, Neil Sheehy is the younger brother of Timothy Sheehy, a former NHL player and member of the USA Olympic team, further highlighting the family's rich legacy in the sport.
